Happy Birthday, Colonel!

And speaking of bionics (as we were in the last post), today marks the 77th birthday of the original Six Million Dollar Man, Lee Majors! Colonel Steve Austin is still - and will forever be - our favorite cyborg secret agent!

  1. I remember watching a show or movie were Lee Majors was on a boat soaked in blood being attacked by Piranha I think, any ideas what that was?

    1. that movie is a guilty pleasure.

the scene where the late Karen Black dives into the piranha infested lake is terrifying.

  2. I drooled over the bionics when this show came out as a couple of TV movies prior to the start of the series.
My favorites of the 1'st season was "The Rescue of Athena One" and "Burning Bright" with Bill Shatner. Even today I still think them among the jewels of the show.
After the the first few episodes I started to develop a love-hate relationship with the show. My last name being "Majors" and being a high school sophomore during Season 1 you can imagine the the types of jokes I had to endure. Consequently I didn't see a lot of the rest of the series until they were in syndication.
Off the few I did see the one I remember most was where he befriended a stranded f amily of copper colored aliens- notable for the powerful ending. (A "Straight On Till Morning" transmission from the alien mothership.) Made up for the silly alien "powers"

    1. I remember "Straight On Till Morning" being my favorite episode. Not surprisingly, it was written by DC Fontana...

  3. Lets not forget the novels by Martin Caidin.
